Created by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government in 2021, the Tainan International Music Festival (TIMF) is a completely new international music brand, whose mission is to create a top-notch and exquisite music experience, to cultivate outstanding music talents, to connect the society and to care for the disadvantaged. Thus, internationally renowned pianist Eva Yulin Shen is invited to act as artistic director, hoping that her professionalism will create a new international platform.

Moreover, the festival is also committed to supporting and organizing various forms of high-quality concerts and educational activities. Through the extensive influence of the festival platform, it connects with internationally renowned musicians and music organizations and forms collaborative relationships in a hope to promote international cultural exchanges and the development of the music industry.

Focusing on the world music trends, the TIMF, using the Tainan Cultural Center as a base, selects top domestic and foreign musicians and program production, holds indoor and outdoor exquisite music feasts, lectures, workshops and other carefully selected music activities. It is hoped that starting from Tainan, we can unite Taiwanese music industry to talk to international musicians and the world.

In 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging the world, we hope to unveil the first TIMF by using the local music power to bring together those Taiwanese elite musicians shining on the international stage and to converge both local and international music energies.

TIMF is just the beginning to ignite music literacy and will take root through music promotion and education and incubate the music environment for Tainan step by step. A good art and cultural environment shall be the key to mutual support for art and the society.
